I have an old Case tractor and would like to know where the serial number is located so I can find the year. It has been "overhauled" over the years with about a quarter inch of paint and can"t find any numbers that make sense.It is a medium size-VA series may be where it is and it has a hand clutch.

DK, I'm sure you have looked for the obvious, tool box with ID plate, they are often lost over the years. On many of the older models the seriel # is cast into the engine block near where it bolts onto the transmission. Sounds like it could possibly be an R model. Does it have over the hood steering, or an odd cast grill? Can you tell if it has a vendor motor? There would be a Waukesha motor in an R.I don't have my resources with me right now, but these are a few things to look for.
