I need to pull a sleeve on a 48 D soon. If anyone would like to share the diagram and instructions I would appreciate it. I have to get a second heat into the shop, made the mistake of going with off peak and it is always off around here. Was just out there and it is 38 in there. [email protected] Thanks, Bob

Steve, if you have a welder,ox/acc. torch and a couple of hours you could make your own puller. If I did anybody could. I think the failure of most home made pullers is the central threded rod. That is something that you will probably have to buy. Mine is a 3/4" coarse thred. The bottom plate is 5/8" thick cut with a torch a little larger in diameter than the sleeve with the hole in the middle for the rod. The top works looks like a "C" with the two up rights about 6" high. The spred has to be of course more than the sleeve dia. the cross part which is welded to the uprights is a 2" by 2" square stock with the hole in the middle. The up rights are 2" by 1" bar stock. Simply tighten it up making sure everything is centered and tap on the bottom plate you made. Then tighten the top nut judiciously, go back and forth and it should rise above the block deck surface, then you have it on the run. Be careful not to go too far and ram your bottom plate into the sides of the lower block skirt. This will happen when the sleeve is about two inches above the block, depending how big you made the lower round plate. If you have a high speed internet connection I can send you detailes pictures of mine.

Bruce,
Could you please send me a copy of the drawing or picture of your sleeve puller. I will (hopefully) be needing it to pull the sleeves out of a couple of tractors to do an overhaul on in the near future.

Thanks,
Jim
