I have to split the tractor at the transmission where the torque tube joins.I have to replace that gasket and try and get the old tarry grease out. What will I run into when I split it and does anyone have a good way to get the grease out?I have used gas in the past, but that doesn't hardly cut it.Thanks.

If you need I could scan and E-mail the section of the service manual if you send your e-mail address. Pete ([email protected])

I just did this to my 48 VAC not to bad a job. If you have real heavy grease in the torque tube, the trans input shaft seal is proberally leaking. just support the rear of the tractor with a large floor jack or blocking and remove the 4 nuts to split the torque tube. I used a engine crane to lift the torque tube and slide it ahead. the torquetube shaft is connected to the trans input shaft with collar that slides onto both shafts, when the torque tube is bolted back together it holds the collar in place. As Far as getting the grease out I used diesel fuel and a brush Working through the opening in the side where I took the belt pulley off, than finished with a can of Brake clean to remove all residue.
