A friend of mine recently acquired a SC Case tractor with the serial number SC0840543. Can anybody tell us what year or any other info this number will tell? Also, it is leaking oil out around the starter where it bolts up at is there a fix for this and what would it be? Is it a wet clutch? It has a tricycle front end on it. Thanks in advance for any help
Megan

Megan, yes the SC was/is a wet clutch - at least the earlier ones like mine which is a '44. I have been told that a gasket is required between the starter and the block but, I have not purchased one yet - anyone know where this gasket can be found? CaseIH? Aftermarket? FSB

You all are correct about the number it was 80 instead of 08. My friend wrote it down write but told me wrong. The tractor belongs to a friend of mine. I will ask him if he wants to sell it. He is going to make a gasket for the starter so it will quit dripping oil. Thanks for the help

There is supposed to be a gasket where the starter bolts up. Yours is probably dry rotted or missing. Don't know if anyone sells them or not. You could probably make one??
