Plow recommendations for use with a Case SC

I was wondering what the best plow would be to use with my 1946 Case SC. The ground in my area is a light to medium soil, no clay just good dark soil. The tractor has a fresh engine rebuild and it is running pretty strong for an SC. This is a pre-eagle hitch tractor so I will need to use a trailer plow. Any recommendations will be greatly appreciated so that I can start my hunt for one before spring arrives. Thanks.

The "rule of thumb" is one plow bottom for every 15 horsepower. Since the SC has nearly 30 horsepower, the two bottom plow is your best choice.

Soil type means Everything!...Our '51 DC pulls a 2-14 trailor plow first/second gear. Some plows may pull easier than others. No one in our area pulls more than 2-14's with 40 hp no matter what color the tractor.

We pulled 2 14's with our SC's in all types of soil and in the hills. Back then 11-38's loaded with fluid and the cast front wheels with the weight in the front-end. Never had a problem pulling the plow. The Dc we used 3 14's with 12-38's loaded with fluid. Never had any trouble with it either.

It should be able to pull 2-14's in 2nd. gear.

I'd say either 2-12's or 2-14's. Around here an SC won't pull a 3 bottom, and im not sure a DC would in sod.

Must be different dirt around here!! Pulled 2 -14" trailer plow with the SC (all she wanted) 2nd gear most of the time, somtimes 3rd. 1st gear would'nt turn over the furrow.

30 to 40 inch width depending on soil. The SC is considered a "2 bottom plow" tractor. We pulled a trailer 2 18s with Dad's when I was a kid. We had some red dirt and Dad had an LP head to boost compression. Old tractor had more power than weight and would pull the front wheels off of the ground when in 1st gear - be careful!

Our 1953 SC pulled 3 14s in second or third gear when the ground was moist, first or second mid summer when it was very dry. This plow was a 3 pt Case model plow, but a drag type doesn't pull any harder.
