Hi Terry, I have a 311b with factory power steering and I think it has the same steering configuration as your 311 but am not positive. The motor is a Char-Lynn torque generator mounted in the steering shaft just under the carburetor. P/n is 217-1015, hydraulic requirements are 3.5 gpm @ 1000 psi max. Normal working pressure on my 311b is 50-500 psi. They are available new from an Eaton distributor. Surplus Center (www.surpluscenter,com) also sells the motor for about $400. The original hydraulic supply was provided by a Barnes spur gear pump mounted in the magneto opening on the engine and driven off the cam shaft gear. The reservoir is mounted on the pump. Pump is rated 4 gpm @ 1050 psi max. The pump is obsolete and doubtful that a working pump could be found aftermarket or in salvage yards. The options are either mounting a belt driven automotive type steering pump on the engine or using the tractor hydraulics with a priority valve. I think if I were starting out from scratch, I would do a web search for after market steering sites. The link below does not mention Case tractors but perhaps they can provide some information. Good luck, Joe
