I recently bought a 67 model 580ck backhoe. All the controls work on the hoe, but the side-to-side swing controls only have enough power to swing the boom if it is off the ground. It does not have enough power to push loose dirt from side to side to fill in a trench. Is this normal for this model or is something wrong with the hydraulics? Thanks.

DT,

Call me @ (314) 966-6692, I can give you a few ideas on what to try. I worked for Case for 25 years & I know what makes these things tick.

That's pretty normal, otherwise you would be replacing the dipper pin or something else on a normal basis. The backhoe was not designed to backfill with the side of the bucket.

Prob the swing cylinders are leaking internally. Or maybe the control is not opening up all the way. -Greg
