I'm beginning to wonder...

My Dad just gave me a John Deere collectible tractor tin and a can of "John Deere Yellow" spray paint this year for Christmas!

I guess I must have been naughty! (grin)

I suggest you convert the JD Tractor tin into a bird house. Hold on to the yellow paint, becauase next year if you are naughty again you may get some IH red. I think you can then mix the two colors together to come up with a really good tractor color like Flambeau Red.

Hey Mike: I can guarantee you that would never happen here. I would rather get a lump of coal for being naughty.

Well he meant well.

I had the same problem recently. My Nephews saw a trinket the thought I had to have, and got it for my birthday.

A Jo....der.. j..j.. I can't even say it. An antique green tractor ceiling fan pull chain knob.

Oh well what can I say? They were raised in the city and just don't know no better.

I got one of those JD pull chain knobs as a gift also. When I went to put it on the pull chain I dropped it and both the rear wheels snapped off. (I think it was made in China.) It's still hanging there with no rear wheels.

Mike:

You're probably the product of a "mixed" marriage.

I got decals for the VAC and a new Leyland Schwandt inner-spring seat cushion for JD '70'D.

Flambeau "Red" and JD "Green"...very Christmasy!

Read your tip on the lye gravy. Sounds like a good recipe. We just started a David Brown tractor club up here and i'm going to add that page of you web site in the news letter. When i did the restoration on my 990 it cost a small fortune on sand!

Elmer:

The lye gravy seems to work best on the old, old, old type paints, you know, straight enamels. If you have any acrylic enamel on it anywhere, it will take it off, but it take a bit longer. But it sure is cheap stuff to try. I like to try it first, because it will remove the grease and oil, too. Then, if it doesn't work well enough on the paint, at least you have a really clean chassis to work around.

Good luck on it!

Frank

It's O.K. I have a lot of "red" in my office. The extended family always did and still does farm with "red". My wife and mother-in-law find red stuff easier than flambeau. I cannot complain though. My new office at home has solid oak furniture, an antique 3/4 bed refinished by Grandpa Hamilton, my mom's Kennedy rocker, and Santa brought me one of those antique type electric fireplace stoves. Rocker, fire, coffee, computer - all set!:^)
