I have a Case 401 and I need to rebuild my pto.I know it has clutches and they have to be replaced. Now,how hard are they to replace and where can I get the clutches? Next,is there any suppries to look out for in disassembling? Also, are there certain ways to reassemble when going back together?I have a I.T. manual but there is usually some things left out they forgot to put in the manual.

I redid my DC PTO clutches and in the IT Manual the 401's look similiar. Their passing remark about using a spare clutch Drum as an installation jig is important (it is mentioned in both the DC and 401 sections). Not having a spare drum I had to resort to dental picks, screw drivers and a helper to get it back together. Chris Pieper indicated that the used some wooden blocks in lieu of a helper. In any event it isn't an easy job. The last few plates are hard to get in. Good luck
