I let the dealership talk me into ordering new ferrules along with my manifold gaskets. Well, the new ones don't look anything like the old ones (which appear to be just fine). The old ones are a couple inches long and kind of like a funnel that sticks into the engine. The new ones resemble flat wedding rings and don't even fit tightly into their holes. Any thoughts on this situation?

Les, don't send 'em back. Found an SI we're gonna work on & it needs a new manifold. I'll take 'em off your hands for that one as we've got a mainifold, but are out of ferrules. Contact ya after we get back from our Nevada/California trip & we'll make arrangements for pay, shipping, etc. (My $0.02 worth. jal-SD)

I just looked at the archives and I see that the ones that were in it must be "venturi" for a multifuel engine. Well, I'm pretty sure that Sky already has it back together using the venturi(s). Will this cause a problem? Should I take them out and put the ferrules in? This tractor didn't have two fuel tanks but the manifold that was on it had a flipper which made me think that it had been made for dual fuel. Now I'm quite sure that was the case (no pun intended).

Hey Les,

You should be fine with the gas ferrules... (I think)

I've got a set of venturis from my '45 with the ruined manifold... but I was planning to hold onto 'em.

Are you still using the dual-fuel manifold, or did you switch to the gasoline manifold? Usually the kero ones are so far gone- I think people usually switch them over...

The old manifold was junk. The one I have now is gas only. But Sky has it back together with the venturis in it. Should we take them out and put the ferrules in? Will it make a difference? If so, what difference?

Guess we might as well leave them in there then. Suppose I could get my money back on them ferrules? They weren't cheap. ";^)

Number on the bill is CAS A26927. Must be different for a DC I would think?
