Hey All,

I went to an estate sale last weekend and happened to find an old 4qt. Presto pressure cooker that was the exact model that my Grandmother Schotte cooked with for years. I paid exactly $1.00 for it.

Took a trip to the hardware store today for a new gasket, air valve & regulator- and now it's good as new.

I then dug out my great-grandmother's chili recipe and made myself a pot of her chili. (The weather is nice and cold here, so it seemed like the perfect day.)

None of us have had any of her chili since she died back in 1993.... so it was really great- sort of like sitting down with a big bowl of love (as corny as that sounds.)

I don't think I'll ever be able to recreate her cornbread or her great pecan pie, but I think that I can manage this one. A little more tweaking and it will be just like I remember.

I'm going to have to send some leftovers to Dad and see what he thinks...

-Schotte
(fat 'n happy)

Mike,
Isn't it amazing how something so simple can bring us back a little part of someone else who is now gone. Last week we pulled my Dad's D off of machinery hill and pushed it in the shop. It hasn't run in 15 years. It was his only new tractor and he loved it and I think of him driving it with me on the fender whenever I look at it. Enjoy that chili!

If you want to make something really good in that pressure cooker get a beef tongue, strip the skin off of it and cook it whole. Let it cool and then slice it thin for sandwich meat. It's Great! My wife won't fix it though. City girl; won't eat rabbit, venison, or fresh fish either.:^)

Hey Mike; Thats what we had for supper. Also corn muffins with blueberries in them. BTW, For a certain vault combination, I can let you back in the fan club. If you ever decide to travel over to CASEpower's, let me know. I'll meet you there. C-P said something about a winch I could run. Hey, you don't know what cold is. It's about 18 here with a NorEaster coming tomorrow. Got the rear blade on that '53 SC that is restored & painted so nice.
