Thursday evening I got home from band rehearsal aout 9:15. I noticed that the light on my caller ID was blinking so I checked it. The guy one of my friends and I rent a shed from had called so I called him back. He said that they had been gone
a few days and had gotten home sometime THursday.
He noticed that the roof of the shed had been lifted up and had come down on some of the tractors, especially one Case. This morning I drove out there and while it looks bad at first, the only damage to either tractor is that the intake stack and exhaust pipe and homemade exhaust elbow on the DC bought it.
The DC sheilded the C since it sits up higher. I have an elbow somewhere and a reproduction intake pipe so it's just a matter of getting the tractor out and taking the manifold to a machine shop to get the bolts drilled out. Maybe at the same time, I'll have the radiator boiled out so I can
get the DC cleaned up and painted. The biggest part of the job will be disassembling the roof and getting it out of the way.
I'm sure the roof was ok last Saturday when I
stopped out there to pick up something; our Montana winds sure can whoop it up but I never]
expected something like this.

Tom,
Glad to hear it wasn't too bad on your tractor. In 1985 a tornado blew our dairy barn apart and it landed on my LA but just crushed the fenders, straight pipe and air intake so I can identify with you.

Thanks, guys. I guess I was pretty lucky. We've had some horrendous winds this fall- gusts up to 65 mph. This was a shed my friend and I were in the process of repairing for our landlord and we hadn't finished tying everything together.
The DC that sustained the damage was in line for some TLC anyway. I needed to pull the manifold and take it to a machine shop to have the homemade exhaust elbow removed and the bolts drilled out. It had a straight pipe which I may try to save as I kind of liked the sound of it.
As for the intake pipe, I have a new repro lying on a shelf in the garage, so it's no big deal.
Now. I might as well get the radiator boiled out too and then I can start clean up and painting.

Tom, sorry to hear about your bad luck with mother nature. I had something similar happen myself But I turned it into something good. Last July we had a 50 year flood, and I have never seen anything like it before and I am 54. I had my 430 torn down in my shop, which took on 18 inches of water. Tools and parts were everywhere on the floor when it happened. After 7 days of shoveling muck and moving all shop equipment I dicided since it was empty it would be a good time to pour a new floor. After laying down $3600.00 worth of concrete I decided to build new winterized doors, storage areas , shelves, cabinets, etc., the place looks bran new. It's wonderful. I find myself spending more time in the shop than ever before, and I can actually find what I need to work with.
