I just purchased my first tractor restoration project. I have a 60's CASE 830. The generator has failed and in order to reuild it I need to know if it is a negitive or positive ground to set the polarity. The rebuild shop is leaning toward positive but all evidence I finds says negitive. Is anyone able to help me out here ? Does anyone have owners and repair manuals for this model they wish to sell?

The 830 was built in Racine, so it will have a negative ground... Gene

Rob, way back then, we had to polorize the generator, at the voltage regulator. Instructions comes with a new v/reg. It can be polorized to be pos. or neg, ground. I would replace it with a Delco alt. that has an internal regulator. alvinnms

look at the battery wiring(assuming there is a battery). does the positive cable go to the frame or ground? if so, then its pos. ground.
