I have used the electolysis to clean up a large part of my dc project but was wondering if there is anything in the Zenith carbs that will be hurt or damaged by useing this method?

There is no substitute for a good Fire Extinguisher and they don't cost alot.
Every six months or so turn a dry chemical extinguisher upside down and shake it. The Powder will settle and pack in. If you had to use it not all may come out.
Smoke detectors in the shop don't hurt either,
$15 to help protect thousands of dollars.

BLMN:

I would not clean any metal other than steel or cast iron. If a magnet will not stick to it, clean it with solvent.

BTW, the best carb solvent available is $4 or $5 a quart at Home Depot or your local hardware store. Get some Methyl Ethyl Ketone (MEK), use it as a soak, then scrub it a bit, and rinse it in some clear product. Scads cheaper than what you're buying at NAPA. Another good one is any non-flammable spray brake cleaner. Look at the can and see if it warns against using around open flames. If it doesn't, it probably contains Perchlorethylene, which is the ingredient used in liquid fire extinguishers (I keep a can near my welder just in case). It was also used years ago as a dry cleaner fluid. If it says it contains Perc on the can, it is a great moisture diverter and final rinse for your carb parts.

Auto parts stores sell cans of carb cleaner, it comes in a paint can and has a basket inside to put your carb and parts in then soak them in the solution. They are around $10.00 and are pretty handy because even after you soak a few carbs and get the solution dirty you can still clean other small parts that will not be affected by grit etc...

Good luck,

What parts store you finding that at. I bought some carb cleaner from NAPA for $20.00 for just a refill can (1 gal)I would have had to part with $45 dollars to get the basket.
