I have just bought a 1950 case SC. and I was wondering if it is postive ground. I have never had a case before,But most of my old Farmalls are positive ground

Hello Mike, now that's a new one on me. I was always under the impression that pretty much everything was positive ground in the tractor world until maybe well into the 50's. Never heard of an American made negative ground tractor from that era. Do you think there is any possibility that the drawing is wrong by just flipping a + and a - location?

Hi A.B. Mike,

How's that VA project coming along?

There's much more discussion about this in the archives- but the Racine built tractors like the SC and DC were all negative ground.

The Rock Island built tractors like the VAC were all positive ground.

Mike- Thanks! this is great- definately saving it. One question though. would my 41 Dc have had a tailight mounted? I haven't seen one in old pictures and there isn't one there now, but I'm starting with a pretty rough tractor so I can't be sure. Any ideas?

IT WAS MOUNTED ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE SEAT CHANNEL UNDER THE SEAT

Hi Campbell,

My DC parts catalog shows an optional tail light- same part number as the headlights... so it doesn't appear to be one of those 2-way jobs.

I doesn't show where it mounts on the DC. On the SC I've seen them either mounted to the top of one fender, or mounted to the underside of the seat channel. My DC-3 doesn't have one- maybe somebody else can help you out...
