Hi, have a heart shaped wide front for DC Case. Why so special, what are they worth, and who wants one?

dave' that perticular mounting was only for the eagle hitch tractors to move the weight further forward for mounted implements, how ever it was a machinery item and could be used on all DC and CC tractors, there wasnt very many of them is why they are considered rare, it did make the tractor ride easer with the longet wheel base dctom

Hey DCTom; I'm confused. Dave S> said he had a heart shaped axle for a DC. He said nothing about Eagle Hitch. Be that aside, I've seen many DC-4's with the axle set back, never a DC-4 with a long wheel base. The 1 you describe, was it as far forward as the adjustable? Was it the same axle as the regular DC-4??

NOT QUITE AS FAR FORWARD AS THE ADJUSTABLE BUT ABOUT 12 INCHES AHEAD OF THE ONE UNDER THE RADIATOR, THOES WERE SO SHORT THEY RODE HARD AND STEERED HARD AND YES THE AXLE WAS THE SAME, DID YOU KNOW THEY MADE FRONT WEIGHTS THT WRAPPED AROUND THE GOOSE NECK FOR ADDED WEIGHT FOR MOUNTED INPLEMENTS, THE HEART SHAPED CASTING WASNT INTRODUCED TILL THE EAGLE HITCH WAS OUT ON THEM IS WHY I SAID THAT ABOUT THEM, I HAVE SEEN ALOT OF dc4'S WITH THAT LONGER WHEEL BASE WILL SEND YOU A PIC OF ONE TOMORROW DCTOM

My 53 foot clutch DC4 has the heart shape mounting for the wide axle. 52 and earlier parts books do not show that kind of mounting.

Joe, I would be interested in your heart front if you aren't too far away from southern Illinois and are in my price range. E-mail me if you get a chance.

Thanks,
MarkS

Hey Dave S. If you got one, I want one. What I think you are describing is the DC-4. It was available for all the years DC's were made. Even the CC's were available with that set up. The DC-4 had the adjustable rear wheels, but that standard front end. They were not all that uncommon, but I don't know where there use was most suited, except plowing & fitting. On the DC-4 the axle set back under like the D. The axle on a DC-3 was adjustable and set forward. The narrow fronts were also DC-3. Hope this helps.

I think they were only manufactured for one year, 1954, maybe 53. They streched out the wheel base of the DC-4 by about 1 foot. This was accomplished by moving the mounting point of the front axel to the front of the tractor through using a heart shaped casting that went around the crank and came to a point at the site of the kingpin in the axel. The only reason they might have extra value is that they are not as common as the standard DC-4 axel which was built for 14 years.

I was looking for one but bought two good ones for $ 275&400. One was complete, with the crank, the other had some welds & no crank.

Dave, I agree with much of what was said. I think it was available for more than one year. How much do you want for it, and where are you located? Glenn F.

The heart-cast wide front was offered on DC Case tractors from 1952 till end of production but offered as a kit for installation on earlier CC and DC models. I have 4 complete units, 2 were on tractors from the factory and 2 were kits. The 2 that were kits have the machinery companies address where they were sold stenciled on the casting. I would be interested in selling some of mine.

Hey Men! Although I'm confused, I wish I lived closer, I'm here in NY, 1/2 way between Syracuse & Rochester, 15 miles South of 90.
