Just got a call from Sky. He made me sit down before he'd tell me that I need all new valves, guides and seats. I suppose there's no pernt in stopping now.

Hi Les,
i bought a vac case for five hundred bucks on here, sight unseen and the guy said it needed head work,he wasn't kiddi'n,i got it and had the head done, cost five hundred bucks! needed all new valves, guides, and seats. but i'm not complaining,as the cylinder bores were nice and not worn,no ridge. it's a wide front 1956 with eagle hitch, sure is a nice running tractor,i learned how to plow when i was 7 years old with a vac mounted two bottom plow, sure was fun and always wanted a VAC. now i have one and i'm happy..oh btw i painted it too..and it had good rubber on it

I think you're right, Will (and George). That's exactly the money I was quoted for putting this one in order. Like I say, there's no pernt in stopping now! Assuming there's no more "surprises", it will have new valves, guides, seats, rings, one new sleeve and 2 "new" pistons. That should hold it for another 60 years, no more work than I'm gonna make it do.

Hey Les, Look at it this way, how fortunate you will be to have a head with all those new goodies in it. You'll appreciate it soooo much everytime you hit the starter!!! Add to that, a good bore and rings, and most all those nasty hard starting problems go away. Just do it! LOL, George S.

The more I think about it, the more I think I'm going to deliberately keep this tractor from looking pretty. Seems as though when all this money is spent, it at least will be the best running 60 year old tractor around.
