I've got a 1944 Case Model S tractor that I've been using to cultivate my tree rows and had planned to restore. I've since decided to sell the tractor. It's tin is in very good shape and it should be an excellent candidate for restoration. Any opinions on a fair price or what would be the best way to establish a fair value of the tractor?

Thanks for all the comments. Will answer most questions here and send separate emails early this week when I get pictures to send. The tractor is located near Bismarck, ND. The front tires are new this year and the rear tires are older but in fair shape. The tractor runs good, doen't use any oil. The hydraulics appear to be factory, w/two point. (Will try to take a good picture of the hydraulics and hitch also). I don't know what an Eagle hitch looks like, so I don't know if it has one or not. The brake pedals appear to be solid brass.

The eagle hitch is Case's version of a 3 point hitch. The eagle hitch was introduced in 1949 on the VA. It was first offered on the S seies in 1952. If your 44 has an eagle hitch it's an add on. They added hydraulic control in 1950. Would be nice to see pictures of yours as mine also has hydraulics. The hydraulic tank is mounted on the top of the valve cover under the hood, it has the pump mounted in front of the distibutor, and then lines run to a valve mounted on the fender. I do beleive that mine is an add on unit. Also since they mounted the valve on the right fender they moved the had clutch to the left hand side. The reason I asked about the brakes was because my 44 SC didn't have the brass pedals.

so, where are you located? if your close or within reasonable trucking distance I would be interested...

I have watched the internet for several years and never have seen a running S advertised for less than 750.00. That should give you a starting point. Bought a lot of non runners and paid up to 500.00--not so sure I made anything on them, though.

Lot depends on your location. I have seen them go from 500-1200.00 here in western SD. Where is it located at? Seems with the price of gas the way it is it cuts into what one is willing to pay. I have a 44 with brass brake pedals, does your have them. Depending what your asking and where your at I may be interested if you have some pictures. Please email me.
