I have a david brown 885. I put new brakes on and rebuilt the final drive assembly. The two seals for the rear axle need replaced. I can't get the metal plate off so I can get the 2 seals out of the housing. I really need help on this one.

There is a special tool for pulling the seal retainer. It is just a flat bar with two holes that line up with the threaded holes on the retainer and has puller bolts at each end to pull the retainer. The retainer has to be pulled evenly. It is a snug fit. The thread size in the retainer is 1/4 fine thread.

Thanks.I was afraid that it may have been threaded or something.

I think the Case/DB 380LL (loader tractor) is the same as the 885 DB. I'll look in our parts and service manual to see what you got. If you mean the flat plate on back of the final drive it may have dowel pins also.
