Went in to NAPA this afternoon and they say they'll have it for me out of Boston tomorrow morning. <$25. Sounds like a deal to me.

Surprise surprise, as a fellow case man I have been working on some of my D series carbs. I been looking for the bowl gasket without having to buy a full kit. Well I went to my local Case/New Holland dealer to try to match gaskets up that they had it stock. Well I found out that they couldn't do anything with them zenith part numbers. Well after visiting with them I found out that they had a position in the parts department come open. Well I applied and I got the job. Now I thought, I'll find them gaskets ha ha ha. Well I was to busy this summer to look for them so the other day I decided to do a little research, no luck, well I was looking for something else and realized that I would check my old cross number and price book I had bought off ebay. Well I have looked through this book dozen of times when all the sudden I noticed a seperate listing for ZENITN carb replacement part numbers. I wrote the new case number down and punched the number into the computer and and and yes it come up as a good number. I checked a gasket kit number and it was good, then I checked a rebuild kit and it was also good. Morale of this story is some times the answer is right under nose. Now I haven't checked the S Series carb numbers yet. Yeah it even listed Marvel carb part number changes. Just wanred to share this little bit of info.

Howdy, Caseman-d

I've got a DC carb that I need to rebuild- so I could use the rebuild kit part number you came up with. (and please tell me more about this part number interchange book so I can start looking for one to add to the library...)

What did the kit cost you?

Depending on your carb? Zenith carb O4990ab model 62AJX9 #8964 takes kit #K573 which I crossed to a B51552 and we sell it for 24.15 plus shipping. I would think most IH dealers should be able to get it for you. I don't have one in stock. The bowl gaskets new number is B51462. I ordered 2 yesterday on our stock order so I'll know next week if these new numbers are right. As for a number cross reference book all I can say is watch ebay and see if anything comes up. Mine come out of Canada so list prices are canadian and it's dated back in the 60's. hope this helps.

Hope you have better luck with the NAPA kit than I did. I think that the needle and seat they've got in their kit sucks.

Without the spring clip to connects the floats to the needle- there's nothing to pull it loose when it sticks. You'd better be diligent about draining the bowl at the end of the day.

It's a real pain in the butt to take the carb off every time that needle sticks.

I thought you rated the NAPA kit second on your list. It was the easiest one for me to get. Seems like it's got to be an improvement on the way it is now but we'll see, won't we.

Your previous post "rating carb kits" indicated that NAPA kit parts were needed to fix this problem with the Zenith kit.

OOPS!... you're right!!

The Tisco kit and the NAPA kit had good needle and seat kits, it *was* the Zenith kit that was the worst of the three.

It's been about two years since I've had them all in my hand. Sorry, Les.

It's a miracle! I was right! I had my carb apart three years ago, put the pin back into the float and fixed the gasket with the blue form-a-gasket that's not rated for gasoline. I don't know why it still runs. I think you could drip gas into the manifold with an eyedropper and an SC would run. I may try this NAPA kit, we have a good NAPA store here and my choke is O.K.
