I am getting some strange ideas about a Case 1200.
head problems?

how much do they weigh?
how tall? (with a cab)

How do they compare to a 1030?

I have a 1200 TK, the engine has been upgraded to a 504. We used this tractor as our main tractor for years untill we got a 7520 JD. But i belive the case pulled just as good.I'm thinking about selling it. It has PTO and three point. [email protected]

Hi Guys, back in the Sixties when I was a young fella and 1200's were modern equipment, the old man was convinced to buy one. It was our very first "main tractor" on rubber tires. (It was also our LAST - he went right back to Caterpillars after that.) Had much trouble with heads cracking. After he put a pyrometer on it and we all learned to drive strictly to that, the problems became much less frequent but still, in his book, unacceptable.

I loved that tractor. It was so much fun to drive, and the crab steer capability was a big help on the hills. I still remember it was about all I could do to push in the clutch, but I was not very big at the time. Just had to share these bits since you asked..... .....

She'll have around 120 h.p., the engine is a turbo'd 1030. They put different heads on this baby, I think they flow more coolant than 1030 heads.

Hi cb, they weigh about 13'000 lbs. and with a factory cab mine is about 11'6" tall and 8' wide. Brakes better be good, check the battery box, it's the whole step & fender, remember that's 24 volt system, check that the final drives don't leak. it's like turning a house around, does the rear still steer? how bad is she? she run? what are they asking? Parts are??? Hope this can Help... e-mail me Jeff.

Hey cb; I read that the 1200 had cooling problems. I'd like one but it wouldn't be my main horse, that's for sure. Like all CASE diesels, keep the smellin salts away. That does as much damage as anything.

Sir, What exactly do you mean by "keep the smelling salts away"? Would that pertain to a 970 as well?
