Wondering about value of a Case 701B diesel tricycle. Believe 1958 or 59. Its free but doesn't run - hasn't run for a couple of years - no idea what is wrong. Seems complete, but needs paint, etc. Wondering what range is to get it running?

Also would this make a good stock puller? Weight - power - reliability? Or is it valuable as a collector due to low production? I had heard the B series had reliability problems due to Case desire to get them out quickly - then the 30 series corrected problems hence the short production period???

I have had a 701B for almost 32 years. It has been a very good tractor. Kinda like a favorite dog. I pulled it for a couple of years back in the 70's and did very well in the 6500 to 7500 pound classes. Mine is a 1959 model and uses the inline German Bosch fuel pump. The 1958 model used the rotary Robert Bosch pump. The inline pump is much better. Rotary pumps are hard to get serviced now. The original horsepower was about 51 hp. I have a M&W overbore kit in mine and work it in the field at 65 horsepower. Only troubles I have had with it is worn high-low shift gears that I replaced with gears from an 800. Cracked a few heads when I was pulling it. The Power Cell heads will not take the heat from from the high fuel settings I was usine. Right now the steering system needs rebuilt. has a lot of play and wobble at road speeds... Gene
