830 brake problem

Started working on brakes on the 830 that I am restoring. Years of mud, dirt & grease had frozen and rusted the parts together. After digging mud for a couple of hours then ordering parts, I realized the splines on the shaft are damaged where the brake pads are. Do I have to open the top of the tractor or can the shaft be pulled out just working thru the side? Thanks

Kirk,

Brake shafts on the 830 are just like the 430-530 etc. These are the side gears that drive the bull gears. You have to go through the top.

I was afraid of that. Oh well, I might as well take the seat and top cover off, everything else is off including the diesel tank and all metal. Thanks for the information.
