Hello,
I need to remove my hydraulic pump assembly from my 1950 DC so I can get to the sprockets and axles. The PTO shaft won't come out....do I need to remove the upper transmission cover and disconnect it, or should it just be sliding out as is?

Thanks!
RandyN

by engaging the pto lever, the gear will not fall into the transmisson, did this twice.

Randy, The front of the PTO shaft has a bearing on it, the shaft is threaded (unless it has Eagle Hitch) and there a nut that must be unscrewad to disassemble all this. This all is done through the side clutch covers, in the bellbousing of the tractor. Then the pto/rear cover can be removed and the gear will fall into the transmission. You will need to hold that gear and thrust washer in place while the shaft is out, or remove the transmission cover to remove the gear and reinstall it when you go back together. Bruce
