I have read through all 3000+ questions and I am still confused. I have been doing a long distance look at a 1952 Case DC that I am considering buying and all of the SN I have is 56174xxxC and my question is can this unit use a 3-point blade or box scraper. I have read a couple of the listings that the 1952 model can use these. I have a mile long driveway to open in the winter and to maintain plus I do use a 2-bottom plow also. This tractor is about 300+ miles away and I have only seen Pic's. It appears to be in pretty decent shape plus it has had a rebuild in the last 4 to 5 years and has had very low usage becuase of a death in the family a couple of years ago, the tires may need to be replaced and it needs a top link but I don't think that is a problem. Except for needing a breather tube and 1 light (it's missing 1)plus a new battery it appears to be complete including the hand crank. I was considering buying it but reading all the write ups I don't know if it will work for me or not and before I commit to it and make the drive I am looking for a little help! My poor 47' hand crank John Deere gave up the ghost after the 14 years I have had it. I need a reasonable replacement till I decide if I am going to rebuild it or not! Thanks in advance for any help that anybody can give me :-) I am trying to beat winter here in Colorado.

Sounds good! I was hoping somebody would :-)

[email protected]

Thanks!

And if you have any other detailed pic's that that might help with things about the DC that would be great also!

Hey Errol; The Top Link configuration on that DC is going to be your stumbling block. The top link itself is somewhat shorter that most Cat. 1's. However the real problem is where it mounts to the tractor. It was a Cast-4-bolt cover that actually covered up the PTO shaft and the Top link mounted to it. It mounted on those 4, 1/2" bolts that hold the whole PTO Ass'y. It will be pricey to find the link & cover.

Thanks John! I really wish I had a good picture to really see what I was working with, the best I can see is that it hopefully should work and it would be locating a top link. The owner is getting me more info. I am not going to be using the PTO which to me looks like it might be my main problem. Also the owner did say that the splines on the PTO are rather beat up so that might be a problem eventually.

With some impletments the hook up points are farther apart than the Eagle Hitch arms will spread. You can usually overcome this problem by truning both the implement pins the same direction. That is reverse on of the pins and let it stick toward the inside of the implement. You could even reverse both the pins if necearry to ge thime closer together. Can you change the pin direction on your implements?

Hi! I am having the owner measuring the distance and the pins are removable on my implements. I have been looking for a real good picture of the rear section of a 52' DC and I could probably figure out a lot but all of the Pic's have been real blurry. It does look like anything hooked to the Eagle Hitch except something hooked to the PTO in that case you might run into a problem.

I put a 3 point hitch on a Case SC. For the top arm connection point, I bolted a heavy piece of steel back under the seat and then bolted it to the top two bolts on the PTO housing. I don't know if you can do this with a Case DC or not.

Thanks! That sounds like a good idea, I am sure that something will be able to be done with a little imagination plus I love to work with the older tractors it is like working on older cars (I still have my 67 camaro I play with!) you can still work on them! Not like the new cars that other then changing the oil and the tires you can't do anything with them without a $1000 dollar computer reader and special tools!

Hi, If the DC is A 52 model it is the first year they came out with EAGLE HITCH whitch is a version of a 3point hitch, it will work the same way,(only in catagory 1) is fixed with no swing. nope this helps, Dale In Tx.

Thanks Dale, I have blown up the picture and also talking to him it does appear to be the Eagle Hitch and he is going to take measurements of the mounts and I am going to take measurements of my implements to see if they will work, also I was using the implemets with sleeves in a Cat 2 set up so if I remember right they are all Cat 1 and if I have to they are bolted in and not welded so I could replace them. If I try to run a Bush hog I may run into problems and a aftermarket link should be able to be found but anymore info if you come across it will be greatly appreciated. I am also planning to go and take a look this Saturday barring bad weather.

Eorrl, The bottom arms are 28in. center, there should be a place for the top link to hook higher so the PTO can be used at the same time,.ran one several years using both, might have to legenth the mast on the bushog for it to work, the top link needs to stay level or a little up when the equipment is all the way down, but should work A OK. Thanks Dale! I just got off the phone with him and your right on the money, that was the measurement he gave me. He also on closer looking said that the left arm had been repaired but was a clean job but when they rebuilt the motor they had used way to much silicone and it is gushed all over so I guess if I repaint it (which I am planning on!) I will need to do a bunch of trimming and the choke is run by a hunk of baling wire but that to is a easy fix. That is why I have decided to take a road trip and my digital camera and to take a bunch of pic's and take it for a putt putt but all in all it so far sounds pretty good and I also got the full SN and I left a message for DCTOM to see if he could look it up fo me. By the way I have 42 Acres to play on, it used to be 82 but I sold off 1/2 of the acreage and took the money and bought 7 acres about a hour out of Fort Collins right next to a good fishing river so I can take myself and the family on occasional weekend getaways and beleive me it is a beatiful spot. Plus after we get back then it is easier to talk the wife into some more toys :-)

Errol,
Sounds like you and I are both toying with the same Case DC on Ebay. Are you looking at the one in Saguache, CO? I was wondering the same thing, I've got 3.5 acres, and was looking for a tractor for it. If you're going to bid, I will wait for another tractor. I'm looking for something in the size of a Farmall H, not sure how big the Case is.

Hi, Just thought I would let you know that I went down and looked and bought the DC now I just have to get it home, it was a 4 1/2 hour drive one way. I am planning on bringing it home in 2 weeks. I did find out I have a problem after I got home, it is missing the PTO cover and the link that you hook up the top link to John Saeli made the comment that if it was missing I might have a problem locating one. It runs great and seams real tight for sitting outside for 51 years. Errol (maybe I can have my local welding improvise something)

Well you found me out :-) That is the one I am looking at and I have been on the phone with the owner for the last few days and he has been very nice and helpful with all of the questions I have been asking him and to check plus he is going to try to get the whole SN and I am hoping the gentleman that has all of the information on this forum on the Cases by SN will be kind enough to look it up for me and this might answer a lot of questions! I have decided to do the 2 1/2+ hour drive this weekend, it took a lot of fancy talking to the wife to get her to agree to finally consider it. It might cost me a few "Honey Do's" but I think I have convinced her that it will be worth it! At least when we have a Blizzard I will get her out to work a few days earlier. It takes me normally 3 to 5 days to currently to get my 1 mile + driveway open since my JD "A" has been down plus it's my back not hers she doesn't find it very hard work at all to get the road open while she's drinking her coffee and watching me outside from our front room window! :-)

The Case DC has more horsepower than the Farmall H. The Case SC is about the same horsepower as the Farmall H.
