My pto runs constantly, even when not engauged and the other day I got a post stuck under my brushhog and now it slips when I try to use my pto.The idiot manual(I&T service manual)says to use a forked end tool to pull out a pin to adjust the pto clutches. My questions, what kind of a tool do I need to pull the pin and can a person make one that will work? Also will adjusting the clutches stop the continuous running? Thanks in advance. Dale

Dale, A large screwdriver with a V ground in it will work, the pins that is referded to looks like an old milk bottle or a bowling pin, doesn't have to be much of a fork or V to work. There is no brake on the clutch, so unless it has a load of some kind it will turn some when the engine is running, best to kill engine when hooking up or unhooking the PTO,also when not in use it is best to leave PTO engaged because it will slip and wear the clutches out. Not a real good deal but got better later. Dale In Tx.

You should be able to use a large long-handled screwdriver throught the acess port on the right side of the hydraulic housing to lift the lock pins, Dale. Once you take the cover off and peer inside with a flashlight, it should make more sense what's going on. I doubt tightening up the clutch pack will stop the pto from turning when disengaged. Case put a pto brake on the Super 400 to stop it. Mine has done this forever.
