In case anyone cares, I thought I'd post the solution to how to remove the diesel tank on a 530CK. The answer to my original question is that it comes out to the back, not the front.

After disconnecting the console and removing the nuts or studs holding the tank in place, remove the power steering lines from the manual pump at the steering wheel. Then just disconnect a couple of linkages and remove the four bolts that hold the steering casting in place at the bottom. The whole assembly will lean forward and the tank can be removed.

I sure wish I had known this a couple of weeks ago. Thanks to Steve (and Nate) for making me loosen the steering casting.

Mike, >>>remove the four bolts that hold the steering casting in place at the bottom.>> I saw
your original post and then had to remove mine... I didn't have to remove those bolts but it just cleared with the water drain removed.. kinda sideways and up...

I broke my FEL loader Frame just below the Control Shelf (right side) and had to weld Plate on both sides ... The auto bucket leveler Cylinder is my "suspect"... Removed it and working better.. just have to tip Fwd while raising...

Regards

Phil,

Since you had the tank out, maybe you can answer my next question. The reason I removed the tank was that the drain valve had been epoxied in place and broke off. I expected to find that the original fitting had rusted out. Instead, when I cleaned off the epoxy I found a very clean round hole.

Can you tell me what kind of fitting was on the bottom of the water trap? Was it a welded-on fitting? It almost looks like mine was intended to have some kind of bulkhead fitting but I don't feel comfortable with that. I'll place a picture of the water trap here:>Link

Mike, The bottem of my water trap has what looks like a 11/16 Nut, looked original but could have been welded.... the Valve assy screws into the center of the Nut....

Hope that Helps...
