530CK Loader Crossbeam Removal

Hi All,
I need to remove the fuel tank on my 530CK. I've tried going forward but it can't come out that way without quite a bit of engine dismantling. So after exhausting other options, I have to come up. This means removing the cross beam that runs between the two loader frames and is the main pivot for the loader.

The problem is that when the tank emptied itself (water trap valve came off in my hand) I had the tractor parked with the bucket taking the weight off of the tires and it facing downhill. I'm afraid if I hammer out the shaft everything will shift and I don't know how I'm going to get the loader arms back in place.

The only way this will be okay is if there are sleeves that hold the loader arms in place when the shaft is removed. I doubt this but thought I'd ask if anyone knows for sure.

Otherwise, my plan is to try to jack up the tractor so the weight is off of the loader. Then I'm going to try to hammer out the shaft with a pice of 1" steel pipe (about 8" long) that I'm hoping will push out the shaft but keep the loader arm in place. Then I was going to use a 1/2" piece of pipe through this 1" pipe to continue to push the shaft down to the other frame. I don't have to completely remove the shaft since I just need to get the tank out.

I'd be happy to hear any comments from anyone who might have done this before. Unfortunately I don't have much to work with. I'm out on my property without any other equipment/building around and I'm pretty much on my own.

Thanks.

-- Mike

Mike, Before you get your self in deep do-do and have to test your medical insurance, Make a remote fuel tank setup and get to a suitable work location. The diesel should pump fuel thru a hose stuck in a continer with fuel in it. Yes, getting the tank off is a real pain with the loader on. I had mine off a gas 530 when the engine was out, which I did and left the loader on. You might be able to fill the bucket with dirt or sand and set it on level ground and then use the hydraulics to hold the arms up, while the cross shaft is removed. Of course, the engine has to be running so more reason to have the remote fuel set up. Just don't drop any thing big on your toe!!
