I need to speak with or e.mail with someone that owns a Case VC. I have a VC that I bought from a gentleman in far north MN in late Oct 02. I live in the Houston area. I have a hole in the left side of the engine block that might be a drain hole for the block. When I fill the radiator, water drains from this hole. Maybe, just maybe there was suppose to be a drain valve there. Also, I CAN NOT find where it ever had a oil filtering system. I have a book on the Continental engine. Pictures in that book indicate the filtration system was on the left side, just forward and slightly higher then the starter, inside a cylinder that had tubing running off of it. Do any of you have any manuals or can you take digital pictures of your VC to aid me in my restoration project? I have ordered a "Early VC parts book to help me with this delemia. Any assistance would be GREATLY appreciated. --John P. Martine

Allan;; Did your VC come from Starbuck, Minnesota with a Minneapolis throttle lever?? The hole should be threaded for a draincock. A 1/4 inch pipe plug will fit to close the hole. It was likely taken out to drain the engine to prevent freezing. Did you look in the toolbox under the gas tank to see if they put it there. Very few VC's had oil filters. I have a VC and a V plus 3 spare engines and a VC that I sold, and none of them have oil filters. Air cleaner assemblies seem to be missing from a lot of these for some reason and are hard to find. I need one for my VC...Gene

If that hole is threaded it is supposed to have a draincock in it. The oil filter may have been an option or was removed.
