My first ever tractor has now come home. I brought it down from my Dad's place last night. My kid's were impressed, but not my wife. This is a Case SC #4511179. Now comes the hard part, getting it running and looking like something again. If I could be a bother, could DCTom look it up and give me a manufacturing date and destination? Thanks in advance, Dan

Too bad Dan, My wife is after me to buy another one, only got around 20 (lost count) so far. A couple of questions about your SC. Is it a center exhaust and does it have a smooth block or a ribbed block?

Don, m wife's attitude improved considerably when I moved it to the back yard. I don't know what you mean by "ribbed", it has three ridges that run parallel to the ground at the lower edge of the block (just above the pan). The exhaust comes out around the side of the hood, not through it, about the center of the engine. Is this "normal" for a "41"? Or did I overpay when I bought it for $50, twenty years ago? Dan.

Thanks a bunch. How in the world that tractor arrived in NJ is a mystery to me. I bought it from my Dad's cousin as junk back about 1977. He had it in a shed for about 20 years. Dan.

Dan, good luck with your new SC and, less-than-enthused wife. I have a parts SC so if you need anything let me know. I have one of the early cast rear wheels available if you need it. Fredct.

Thanks, I appreciate it. Right now, all I'll be needing is a gas tank. The engine is free, it turns out. I may at some point put fenders back on it as I allowed the old ones to rust out. No one knows if someone is making parts for an Edison-Splittdorf magneto, do they? Thanks again Dan.

Only thing new getting made for Edison Splitdorf now are gaskets for the CD model. Other parts would be new old stock, used, or new substitute type and rewound coils. What do you need and what model do you have, CD, RM or other? 806-295-3682
