'52 SC, 6 volt system. I had my generator rebuilt with new regulator and installed a new amp meter at the same time. I'm not getting a charge and the shop thinks it might be the new gauge. It's a Stewart Warner that looks exactly the same as the original but SW says you can't run all the juice through them. How do you hook up the new gauges that aren't ment to have all the current going through them?

I'm not sure what SW mean't, but the wire coming from the voltage regulator has to go to the ammeter. Do you have a distributor type ignition? If so, with the tractor running, try unhooking one of the battery cables and see if the tractor continues to run. If it does, the generator and voltage regulator must be working. You also might want to try physically opening and closing the contacts on the voltage regulator and see if the ammeter reacts to it.
