530CK 188D Fuel Tank Removal

Well, I tried to drain the water from my fuel tank before starting the tractor today and the entire valve came off in my hand dumping many gallons of fuel.

I assume my only hope is to remove the tank and get it to someone that can weld a plate over the hole and insert a fitting into the new plate.

My question is which way does the tank come out, forward or backward? To come backward it appears I'd have to remove the steering wheel and maybe more. I think it goes forward after removing the air cleaner assembly.

Anyone done this before?

I had one of thes up to a year ago. I took the tank out due to sand and dirt in it. There are three bolts holding it in. I took the dash loose and all of the other sheet metal aroung it. I did not touch the steering. Once loose it lifts up straight.

Mark, was this on a CK with a loader? There is a major connecting beam that runs across the top of the tank connecting the left and right loader sub-frames. Therefore straight up is not really an option.

It was a 530 but not a CK. It had a loader. I know there are several loader models they used. I think mine was a model 30 or 31 loader. But that might have been the backhoe #. It did not have anything across the tank. I think the tank had studs that hung down. You would have to lift it high enough to get them free. It was very easy to lift the tank out. Obviously your loader makes a different situation. Short of removing it I don't have another suggestion.
