On my 1949 Case SC I have fluid coming out around the belt pulley shaft and now there is a rough bearing noise. Do I have to remove the pulley or can I just remove the three bolts on the cover behind the pulley.
Are there parts available?

To do it right is a major job. You have to split the tractor and go in through the top of the transmission to take the shaft out. You really should have a special thimble to assist in putting the seal on the shaft; a good partsman can
access CASE's engineering drawings and get you the spec's for this tool.

I suppose that if you are careful and can get the pulley hub off the shaft, you could get the old seal out and put a new one on if you are extra careful. I need to do it on a DC and I just can't seem to get started.

Thanks Tom for the information. I had not even considered a split would be involved.
Oh well!
