Hi Todd,

I linked to one of the previous discussions where people were reporting in on their steering wheel type and year model. I have a '45 SC with a 6-spoke, and several '49 SCs with the 3-spoke wheel. Seemed like the consensus of the original owners was that it was either '47 or '48 when the changeover occurred.

(We can ask Les- he's got a '47)

Many people with '41 SCs have the early 6-spoke wheel... so yours has got me baffled.

I've got several versions of the Case SC Parts Catalogs- and my 1941 version shows the 6-spoke type (Part #1995AA).

If you look in this scan of the '41 catalog, you can just barely tell that it's got the six spokes: (double three spoke) I guess it would have to be a triple three spoke before we could call it a "banjo" wheel, eh?

Later catalogs show the 17-3/4" 3-spoke wheel (Part # 07779AB)

may as well get my two cents in here, cant tell for sure when the 6 spoke was stopped but i am sure they were all black and the three spoke were all flambeau, i always thought they went out with the chrome strip during the war but by your research 47 may be right DCtom

My bad - I see the difference now. Six spoke to me meant six equally spaced spokes. Dad's would have been the 6 spoke with two spokes in three sections type. Learn something new every day! TH
