I have a 1950 Case wide front utility tractor. It is a 4 cyl. gas engine. It has a 3 PT hitch and PTO. It also has a "pulley PTO" (for lack of a better name) on the side. It has the normal electric starter, but also has a hand crank that can be inserted in the front to crank by hand. It's been a good ole tractor, but engine recently locked up and brakes are almost nonexistent. (never did have good brakes) Trying to figure out exactly what model it is so I can try to locate parts for it. It was my Dad's tractor (he's 80 yrs. old) so I'd like to restore it atleast just for the sentimental value.
I've tried looking up "1950 Case" on internet but all these letter designations C, D, Super C etc... have me a little confused. What do I have ???
Any info greatly apreciated.
Thanks,
Jeff

Sounds like A vac the D series in 1950 did NOT have 3point or brakes on same side or foot cluch, serial # should be on dash or stamped on flange at rear of motor on left side. Good luck Dale in Tx.

Some more info on tractor that I forgot to put on my original post.
Both brake pedals are located side by side on the right side. They can be used independently, or a little lever can be flipped over that latch both peddles together.
From what pictures I've been able to find on the net, the model that most closely resembles my tractor is a DC-4
PS> Where would I look for the Model and Serial # on the tractor ?

Dale is correct,if your dash tag is missing look on the left side of the engine where it bolts to the trans. You will find a 7 digt # followed by the model.(example 5412345 SC) subtract 4 from the first 2 # making it a 1950 SC. Dave

Thanks for the info Dave and Dale.
I found the serial # on the dash plate.
It is VA 5454359. I found another number on the top of the transmission cover VT 161 if that helps any.
Now, my question is_____Is this a "VAC" or is there a difference in VA and VAC ?
Also, are there any places that sell used or aftermarket parts for this tractor ?
Anybody with info, greatly apreciated.
Thanks,
Jeff

You have a 1950 model "VA". They are very similar to the VAC, but the VA has a fixed width wide front axle.

The VAC could have a narrow front with one wheel or two wheels, OR a wide front that was adjustable in width.

Parts for the VA shouldn't be bad at all. There are VACs all over in tractor junkyards, and most parts can be swapped, except for probably the steering and front end stuff. I don't have a parts book to really give a list of what can and can't be swapped. Aftermarket or other used tractor parts companies also have extensive selections. I'd add a few names, but I'm sure it won't let me post them.
