I have been unsuccessful in breaking lose a hydraulic fitting on my control tower. Does anyone have any suggestion on how to get a stuck hose fitting off. It's probably been on for 20+ years.

Ed from Pa. Had this happen on a IH TD340 just last week. The fitting pulled out of the mounting block on the cylinder when I undid the hose. The fitting was pressed in and silver soldered. I took the cylinder to a hyd. shop and paid $60 for a new fitting to be put in. Good luck, GO SLIPPERY ROCK!!! Jim

Mac tools made a good crowsfoot wrench that wouldn't open up like most but the best one I saw was the tubing crowsfoot by OTC. But the best thing to use but use it very carefully is heat, heat up the fitting and it should come right off. Case was having problems with these leaking and used the Hydraulic sealant from loctite to keep them from vibrating loose. This stuff is just a little less potent than the red 271 but stronger than the blue 242 and green 601. Hope this helps.

I have used heat, I have beena able to disconnect all the lines around the one that stuck. I can't get a good grip on it and I am starting to round off the fitting. DO you know if anyone could just retap it?

With the pressures involved, replacement is the only choice for the hose and fitting. If you have all of the other hoses off, you may be able to remove the valve and work on it out in the open.
