I have a 81/82 Case 2390 that is that is having a problem with low transmission oil pressure under the following conditions. As the clutch is released the transmission oil light flashs for a fraction of a second. This occurs just as the transmission engages. The same thing happen as the clutch is depressed. I have changed the transmission filter thinking that they might be pluged but this did not fix the problem. Other than this momentary drop in oil pressure very thing is working. I am getting a shop manual on this machine, but would like to hear from other that have had similar problems.

Thanks in advance,
BB

Thanks for the feedback. The PS works in all ranges. Since changing the filter I have noticed that the transmission oil light has started to flash when shifting the PS at low engine speeds. Since getting this machine I have put about 6 gallons of generic trans/hydralic in the transmission. About 4 gallons when I changed the filters. I suspect that the "cheap" lube may be part of the problem. Time for a oil change.

Thanks again,

BB

I had a 2090 that did that. It did it from the day I got it to the day I got rid of it 10 years later. Talked to several mechanics. They all told me that it was just a sensitive sending unit. Did suggest that I change fluids to Hytran. I did and it helped. Stopped doing it when the fluid was hot.

What you are seeing (as they explained it to me) is a slight lag as the primary pump comes on line. Part of having a closed center hydraulic system.

Is this happening in all 3 powershift gears or is pressure lower in second on the pwr shift? My 1370 would not pull in second after the bolts in the clutch pack broke, I could run in third on the range lever & first on the pwrshift with no problem to get done that spring. Mechanic told me Case heard about the problem & fixed it by putting bigger bolts ( 1/2 inch ) in the clutch pack on the 90 series tractors, the 70 series had 3/8" bolts when new, the holes get drilled for 7/16 bolts when fixed, not enough room for 1/2" in the 70 series, but I've never had any more trouble. I'de ask a Case mechanic if it could happen on the 90 series. If you can't find one that knows email me & I'll give you a number to call & find out
