In Mike's pictures, I assume that is an air cooled engine used on a combine. Last page 2, first page 3. The drawings all way intreged me. Were they as bad as reputed? How heavy were they?. In my younger days I wanted one for a ground effect machine..... ..

The only info I have says the 6 foot G and A (pull) combines had Wisconsin engines, while the 9ft M and 12ft K had there "own". Funney thing tho is they give the bore and stroke for there "own" engines as the same as Wisconsin 4 cylinders. Isn't the Case air cooled a 6 cyl inline? All of the Case swathers I have seen were built by Heston with various Winconsin air cooled V4s. BTW: Wisconsins start OK if you grind the valves, keep the dirt cleaned out so the valves run cooler and don't burn. Course I all ways jump started mine with a 12 volt battery to there 6 volt starter. he, he.

The case air cooler was 4 cylinder same bore and stroke as a VA series engine. The only wisconsins I have seen that case used was V-4s not inlines although wisconsin made a inline 4 air cooler. The early Case combines used wakausha engines the same as the R series tractors. I have never seen a air cooler Case in a combine only in tobbaco setters, but they show being used in model 75 and 77 combines. The Case air cooled is model A125 engine.

There is a guy in MN that has one of these in his VC tractor. There was some discusion if it came that way from the factory, but you could tell it was a baler of combine engine that had been stuck in. I do have some parts books and stuff for the air cooled Case engine if someone needs part numbers. Good day folks!

Hey KennyP; I got one of them engines. My Dad said they were a good engine. Had the Wisconsin beat, especially after dinner. The CASE would fire rite up. Looks just like the "V" engine except for the air cooled jugs.

John,

If I'm not mistaken... that WAS a Wisconsin engine in the photo.

Hey Mike; Look a little closer. Has anyone seen a 4 cyl in-line air cooled Wisconsin? I have one.
