Have a gas 580 CK backhoe with a battery charging problem. Idiot light stays on and a guage also indicates it isn't charging. Full fielded the generator and it charges, changed the voltage regulator and switched to another battery. Nothing helped the problem. Anyone have any ideas?

Charley, If you Full Fielded the GEN by Connecting
the F to ground and then your GEN Charges.... I would make sure you have a "GOOD" Ground on the Regulator... (The Reg just controls the Ground Current)

Hope this Helps

Your suggestion sounded good, but it didn't help. Wonder if I'm buying the wrong regulator? Thought most tractor regulators were more or less generic!

Charley, There is two types of Regs... One Provides
a Ground to the Field ... and the other provides
Voltage... Reg must match Gen Configeration...

Hope this Helps,
