Not counting riding lawn mowers, what model Case tractor was the smallest? How many years was it produced? Did Case every make anything comparable to a Farmall Cub or a Massey Pony?

A vc is light enough that it can be pulled in a 2500 lb. class if you take the fenders, and maybe the battery out. But it is a much stonger tractor than a cub or pony. It uses the same continental Block as some of the bigger Massey's.

The 10-18 crossmotor was pretty darn small.

The model R or it's successor the S probably took up the least floor space. Standard tread small sized tractor was also made in orchard version, R began in '30s , was replaced by S, made until the early 50's

the VAS is the smallest in the VA series of farm tractors. they built 1,559 between 1951 and 1954. 1951 being the most rare with a total of 18 built for that year.

they were a single-row cultivator for vegetables and small trees. i put a link to a picture in the next post.

hope this helps!

Wasn't the V series a little smaller than the VA series?

well... yes and no. the V used a standard front axle which set it low to the ground, that indeed makes it small but even tho the VAS is considered a hi-crop tractor, its narrow compared to the V and that makes it small too.

the VAS is also offset and that compares to a Farmall A/Super A and i think thats what Lew wanted to know. the V is more like a Cub Lo-Boy. they could both be considered the smallest tractor. the thing is they both use the same size power train (engine&driveline) as everything else in the V/VA series.

i hate it when i cant make up my mind.

I assume that the S stands for a sugar cane model, is that correct?

umm, im not entirely sure. i thought it stood for "short". cotton/cane models were narrow crop tractors that usually used a single front wheel.

i may be wrong but it sounds good dont it?

The "S" stands for "side" since on the VAS the main body of the tractor was shifted to the left.

My vote for the smallest 200B series

my $.01 worth
