Just bought a 450 dozer everything works great for the first 45 minuntes. Then the dozer stops moving. Let it sit for about 10 minutes and its good for another 20. Any thoughs as to the problem.
No leaks anywere, all oils are full.

Thanks in advance for any input.

Larry,

This sounds like a classic case of charge pump failure, not converter or fuel problems. If you need help\info\advice feel free to call me @ (314) 966-6692. I have some experience with this problem, I worked for case for 25 years.

Thanks Steve

Larry,

There are two other possible causes , lining coming loose in the hose from filter to
pump, but usually they don't run that long between starts. other is filter canister full of trash , whenyou shut it down the trash will fall from the element and will pick up again after start up. Then the question is where did the trash come from,as bob says it most likely came from the converter but it could just be dirt . pull the filter to see what is there .

Thanks for the info. I will check both of your recomendations. The Trans oil temp is mid green on the gauge when it happens. The trans presure gauge quits regestering when it happens. If it needs a new torque converter is this something home garage mech can do or do you recomend a dealer do it.

Thanks

Larry

You have a problem with the torque converter. I would imagine that if you took some of the transmission fluid, put it on your hand and held it in the light you would see small silver flakes. That is the aluminum from the impeller and turbine in the converter. Did you notice the transmission temperature right before the machine stalled? It likely spiked. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but this is a common failure on converter machines.
