I helped a fellow drag home a DC. He got running, but had trouble with keeping it going. He found the carb bowl vent was plugged. First he drilled a hole in top of carb and it ran fine. Next, he pulled apart and cleaned/blasted it, drilled out plugs and ran wire into vent holes. After drilling them clean, he put in a set screw to re-plug the hole from outside where it should be closed. He had to tap that hole to use screw. Might look into that for yours!

You have the carb set close enough. Sounds to me like you have dirt in the gas lines somewhere between the tank and carb. If that checks out check the float valve in the carb.

I agree with larry if it starts and then stalls it is probably starving. (Unless of course it is blowing back smoke and stumbling before it dies). The sediment bowls are not terribly efficient at removing crud from gas. Get a clear fuel filter at the auto parts store and put it in the line..will also let you confirm you are getting gas to carb. If you are then mostly likely the needle valve is stuck or float adjustment is way off.
