Hi. I want to remove the spindle at the end of the axle beam to service the bearings. There's no reference to it in my service manual. I removed the castle nut on top and am not sure if the control arm is taken off with a puller first or if the spindle shaft can be pounded down and out the bottom of the housing. Any help is appreciated.

Gary,

There is a needle bearing and thrust bearing. If the axle end won't hold a bearing it is also replaceable. Follow the link to a parts illustration.

Hey Gary; I've always turned the nut upside down and ran it down flush with the top of the threads and pounded the spindle down. Sometimes heat was required. If that axle is like the Ag. tractors, there are no bearings in there. Hope this helps.

If no bearings then bushings? I'll heat it up and try your suggestion. Thanks John
