any suprises inside?

I am ready to remove the rear axle housings on my Case model V (hopefully those big bolts will crack loose). From the view through the inspection or drainage hole in that housing, things look pretty ugly (and greasy) inside. Can I expect any suprises or highly complex mechanisms inside when I get this housing off? Anything to watch out for ... it looks to me as if it must be some sort of a disc brake setup which I've never tackled before on a tractor.

If they are disc brakes, they probably consist of some springs, steel balls, a disc with lining on it and another steel disc that pushes against it. If you have anyone local that can re-line the brake disc, you should be ok. We can help you through the rest.

well, you know what i say, jump in w/ both feet, and then figure it out. youve got a good chance to understand how they work if you think about it.

not sure if theyre drum or disc but they cant bee to different than what Case made on previous models. Case did cast the housings for Clark to put the gears in so they should be similar to everything else.

have a sense of adventure!
