I found a rusted derelict and after seeing photos of the vac model, think this may be one. The serial numbers I couldn't find on it and need to know where they might be found. On the right side just forward of the transmition I found a VT 184A number with a 3 just below that.
Will appreciate help as I'm not farmiliar with case tractors yet.

I noticed that my dad's VAC has a casing number VT148 stamped on the engine. I believe it was toward the front on the left side.

VT148 is cyl head nr common to 124 cid Case engine. VT184 is belt pulley hsg.

in my VAC parts index, VT184 is the housing for the Kingston hydraylic pump/belt pulley stub. however, there is no listing for a VT148A. not sure what # that represents but it may not be a VAC part.

im assuming that there is no serial # plate on the dash panel, but if its possible, see if its possible to post a pic. that way some of us here could have a better chance at identifying your machine for you.

good luck!

I went back and looked today, and the darn tag with the serial no. is missing. Part of the cowling is also missing, and it appears as if it had been converted to run on propane. No fuel tank either. Thanks for the help sir. Brian

Brian, that VT # is just a casting/part # for that particular piece of the tractor. You'll find those on practically every piece of it. If you post pics, there are lots of people on here that can help with the ID of it. As well, on that plate with the serial #, there should be some letters preceeding it that will tell you what model it is. Hope this helps.

Brian, Look on the dash below the gauges and above the steering column. If you dont see a tag look for to small hole about 2 3/4 inches apart. That will mean the tag is lost. On all but the last year or so of production subtract 4 from the first 2 numbers and you have the year. If it starts with 60, it will be a 54 or 55 modle.
good little tractor.
