i recently purchased a set of chrome strips that go on the side of the hood for my 1950 dc case. what years were these originally used on the dc's? i have never seen a dc with these strips on them, except from the one at the boneyard where i got these. are these somewhat rare? thanks for your input.

What we normally refer to as "chrome" trim on vehicles is actually polished stainless steel. I believe its use was eliminated on our tractors as part of the conservation methods during WW II. They were eliminated on the LA also at the same time.

Hey Robert,

My 1962 Fleetwood Cadillac has all stainless steel trim strips.

I think I found this out the hard way while mowing one day with the SC (don't ask)

Hello Mike,

I won't ask.....

I can tell ya the aluminum trim from old Volvos is harder to remove from the flail drum than most weeds.

Months ago I sent you pix of the DC4, did you get them?

Regards
David

I (think) that the chrome strips were only on the 39, 40, 41 and 1942 year model DC's.

I'm pretty sure that they were gone by '43- but I could be wrong.
