I have a IH 400 corn planter that is not planting evenly. It will plant fine and then two plants together and then a space of twelve inches. There is no specific pattern or a certain row. My panting pressure is 8 and seems to remain constant. I am planting at 30 000 seeds/acre. I do not feel any leaks around the tank.
Any suggestions.

If your planting plateless it will give you uneven results because of the different seed sizes wont allow the brush to be set correctly or air preasure to hold the seed.

Does the area where the drum seal contacts metal have plenty of slip plate? If not the drum wont turn freely. You might need a little more air pressure and check clearance and condition of the brush.

It sounds like you where planting a little faster than the 400 Cyclo will plant. I used to own a 400 6NR to put in corn and soybean plots with. 4 to 4.5 mph will give you the best results with corn or any crop that is spacing sensitive. When I put in beans I could run as fast as I could stay in the seat! Good luck.
