No, I didn't leave out a digit. That is the #. It has no Eagle hitch. Has a hand clutch.
What year is it?

Les,

Is the same number on the block flange? I've heard (but can't confirm) that on the later serial numbers the "80" wasn't stamped onto the block- just the batch number series.

But that would leave a 5-digit number, wouldn't it?

You also said it doesn't have the Eagle Hitch... so I'm confused as well.

I just thought I'd ask for a comparison of the two serial numbers- since sometimes the first number on the dash tag gets buried under the screw.

Mike: I can confirm that for some of the 80 series numbers the 80 was not stamped on the engine flange just the model and 5 digit number In my case DC25000.

Les... could your 5 on the flange be an "S" for a model and 5 digit serial be 04020?

I knew I should have taken a picture of that tag. Didn't look on the flange. The 5 is well to the left on the tag but I'm 99% sure that there isn't another number buried under the screw. I guess if there is, it would have to be another 5, wouldn't it.
I have looked at this one before and talked to the owner once. With a few exceptions, it is in the best shape of any that I have looked at. It certainly has more paint than all the others put together. Has a flapper on the exhaust which is a real good sign. But I know it hasn't run for several years.
