My friend Loren has a Case RC serial number 4226965. We believe that this is a 1938 model. It is unstyled without a sunburst grille. It is painted Flambeau Red and there are no signs of any grey paint underneath the Flambeau. Is this tractor supposed to be grey?? Thanks, Bruce

Bruce, I would agree with the others that the unstyled RC's look best in gray. To me its like seeing the V, S,D,L series painted Desert Tan. They just don't look right. Just a humble opinion. Going to the JICCA get together this Summer up in your neck of the woods?

If it is unstyled, paint it RC gray with red wheels.
If it is styled, paint it flambeau red.

It is my understanding that the Flambeau Red paint came out with the unveiling of the Styled tractors. Therefore, I would think that an unstyled RC should be painted RC grey.

A little book here says that there were orange ones that showed up, obviously the later ones from that series. I think officially Flambeau Red showed up in 1939.

You may hear different from others, but I know for sure in 1938 it could have been either color.
