Good surprise on SC water pump

My SC water pump was leaking a few months ago.

After getting the $134 quote from the dealer on new shaft, bearings, seal and gasket (not including istallation), I checked out a few local autoparts stores. O'Riley autoparts quoted me $58 for the rebuild if I sent my core in to be rebuilt. I just got it back from them yesterday and they also sent me a new gasket. I was even happier when thay told me this one has a lifetime warrantee. The only bad thing is that I had to wait a full six weeks for them to rebuild it.

I just wanted to pass the word on to other SC owners so that they can save some hard earned $$$.

That is a cheap price. The best price I could get was $80. Never heard of O'Riley Autoparts though.

Myron-

O'Reilly Auto Parts is a regional chain.

This is good news- as their corporate headquarters/ distribution center is in my hometown!

I've got two waterpumps sitting here- Thanks for the information!

I am in western Kentucky. My understanding is that O'Riley sends the pumps to a company called A-1 rebuilders. The guys at the local Napa said they could send my pump off for a rebuild, but they couldn't promise me a price and I didn't want to risk getting a $150 bill back with the pump... Pehaps Napa works with the same company and could get it done for the same price, but the guys I checked with didn't want to get the quote ahead of time.
